The Fayette County School Board has initiated the search process for a new schools superintendent. The search comes following the unexpected death of former Lexington school district leader Manny Caulk.
The Fayette School Board work session Monday included a review of the superintendent selection process as outlined in state law. Boards must seat a screening committee within 30 days of determining a vacancy. Manny Caulk passed away in early December.
Nominations for the screening panel will be accepted until this Friday. The school board also agreed to begin advertising for superintendent search firms or executive recruiters.
Newly chosen school board chair Tyler Murphy said, quote, “Your board of education team is committed to conducting this search in a way that builds upon and strengthens employee, student, family, and community engagement in order to attract a leader who will help us achieve our mission of ensuring all students achieve at high levels and graduate prepared to excel in a global society.”
