Kentucky is following a national trend as it relates to ACT scores. Educators would like to see a change in the current trajectory.
ACT reports the average composite score for Kentucky seniors in both public and private schools fell by three-tenths of a point, comparing the 2018-2019 academic year to 2019-2020.
The national average for some 1.7 million students dropped a tenth of a percent. ACT says it marked the third straight year college admission scores decreased.
Among 15 states that tested 100% of graduating seniors, Kentucky’s average composite score placed the state seventh nationally.
The ACT is a curriculum- based measure of college readiness, testing academic achievement in English, math, reading, and science.?
