Virtual Town Hall On Public School Startup To Be Held Thursday

State officials are co-hosting a virtual town hall meeting this Thursday afternoon on re-opening public schools. Although aimed at state educators and other support staff, the general public can also tap into the program.

The purpose of the town hall is to review major elements of the ‘Healthy at School’ guidance developed by the Department for Public Health and State Department of Education.

The program includes agenda items on topics like locating COVID-19 guidelines on the KDE website, daily participation and non-traditional instruction, and COVID-19 related flexibility.

In the news release Interim Education Commissioner Kevin Brown is quoted as saying public commentary about waiving the authority of school based decision making councils is not accurate.  The Town hall is scheduled from 2 to 4 pm Thursday.

To participate in the virtual town hall, go to https://app.gosoapbox.com and enter the access code: KDEtownhall.
