Full time freshman at Kentucky State University will be given a school issued laptop this August.
KSU President Christopher Brown said faculty frequently noticed many students were retrieving assignments using cellphones instead of laptop computers or tablets.
According to the university, data suggests student achievement may be reduced when using cell phones to download and complete assignments instead of larger devices. Brown said the university’s laptop initiative is one of several measures being implemented to accelerate academic outcomes.
