Kentuckians age 19 and older now have an alternative to the traditional GED when it comes to earning a high school equivalency diploma. Kentucky Skills U, formerly Kentucky Adult Education, can now award a high school equivalency diploma for credit hour completion at Kentucky Community and Technical College System institutions.
KCTCS Chancellor Kris Williams says it’s similar to dual credit students preparing for their college path while still in high school. “This gives an adult who is outside that high school experience a similar equivalent pathway to be earning college credit at the same time they’re moving toward that high school equivalency diploma,” said Wiliams.
Eligible candidates will qualify for the new diploma upon completion of three credit hours in the study areas of written communication, quantitative reasoning, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.
