EKU President Michael Benson Staying In Richmond

Eastern Kentucky University President Michael Benson will remain the top administrator at the Richmond school.  Benson was a finalist for the top job at the College of Charleston.

The College of Charleston Board of Trustees has chosen Andrew T. Hsu to become the school’s 23rd president.  Hsu comes to the South Carolina public institution after serving as provost at the University of Toledo.

Board Chair David Hay said Hsu is, quote, “an extraordinary individual - he is a scholar, a community builder, a fundraiser, and a visionary leader.” The College of Charleston, founded in 1770, is one of the oldest post-secondary institutions in the country.

Michael Benson, who’s 53, has been president at EKU since August of 2013.  The other finalist for the College of Charleston position was Purdue University Honors College Dean Rhonda Phillips.?
