A $1 million gift to Eastern Kentucky University from the chair of its board of regents and his wife could increase private giving to the Richmond-based school.
The donation is part of an ongoing capital campaign.
The million dollar contribution from Craig and Madonna Turner will help support academic, athletic, and facility initiatives.
The majority of the commitment will be fulfilled over the next three to five years with the remainder a bequest through their estate.
Turner, who’s been chair the EKU Board of Regents during the past four years, is founder of a Lexington-based commercial development firm. Private giving at Eastern over the past three fiscal years has totaled $22 million, a record amount for that period of time.?
