Kentucky State University President Raymond Burse has outlined plans for next year's $45.8 million operating budget.
The proposal includes cuts to faculty and staff jobs. Burse announced the plans Friday, calling for the elimination of 31 additional campus positions. According to the Lexington Herald Leader, that includes 17 faculty and 14 to 15 staff jobs.
The cuts in personnel aim to help the school's $7 million debt.
KSU’s 2015-16 budget also includes a 10 percent reduction to student scholarships, and a 5 percent tuition increase for students, which officials say will generate more revenue.
Under Burse’s plan, remaining employees will not receive raises.
The deep cuts to staff and faculty come after last year’s restructuring that eliminated nearly all adjunct professors and dozens of administrators.
