A central Kentucky corporate mainstay and a social service nonprofit are working together to help more parents become actively involved in their children's pre-school education.
Governor Steve Beshear, Toyota, and United Way announced that the early childhood academies are being expanded to 36 more schools statewide. The parental education program is aimed at helping better prepare children for kindergarten. The academies include six free monthly workshops for parents and caregivers of children up to age five. The initiative is funded by Kentucky’s Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge federal grant and Toyota’s Kentucky manufacturing operations.
