EKU Board Approves Tuition Hikes

The Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents has approved a five percent tuition increase for undergraduate Kentucky residents.  The board, meeting Thursday, also gave its approval to a merger of the non resident and so called targeted tuition into one rate for out of state students.  Students living just outside Kentucky had previously paid less that other out of state students.   Resident and non resident grad students will also face about a five percent tuition hike.The EKU board also ok’d a five percent increase in residence hall rates and a three point five percent increase in meal plan rates.  Eastern’s budget will not include an across the board salary increase for faculty and staff.  State support for EKU decreased six point four percent in the state’s biennial budget.  The State Council on Postsecondary Education is expected to approve these rates.
