Bullying on Eastern Standard

Marisa Hempel

Bullying is one of the most common issues today’s children face, with over one in four of K-12 students experiencing bullying at one point. In honor of Bullying Prevention Month as well as this week being Safe Schools Week across the country, we speak with our round table on the topic of bullying.

Guests on this week's show include: Terry Brooks, Executive Director of Kentucky Youth Advocates; Mary Gibson from Berea College and coordinator of a group connected to Gear Up (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)called PALS; and Kit Carson Elementary principal Ken Clark.

On this week’s Eastern Standard, we’ll discuss bullying and we’re interested in your questions or comments before the show at wekueasternstandard@gmail.com, or at 859-622-1657.

Or call in when you tune in for EST, Thursday morning at 11:00 on WEKU.

Write to us with your questions or comments: we are interested in hearing from you by email at: wekueasternstandard@gmail.com,  post a comment to the WEKU Facebook page or tweet us @wekuEST.

Our guests encouraged parents to reach out to their local school boards and educators and ask this simple question: What are you doing to stop the bullying problem at your school?

We had a great amount of listener calls and support for this Eastern Standard, feel free to check out these links provided by our guests for more information on this topic:
