Filmmaking in Kentucky on Eastern Standard

Kentucky Filmmaker Jason Epperson has produced a documentary focusing on UK Basketball fandom. Meanwhile, there are many other film projects underway in the Commonwealth, intended for audiences ranging from narrow-interest to the general public.

This past session, the Kentucky General Assembly passed legislation expanding incentive programs for filmmaking in Kentucky.

On this week’s Eastern Standard we’ll discuss filmmaking in Kentucky. What can filmmaking do for economic development in Eastern Kentucky? What is the climate of the film industry in Kentucky right now?

Our guests for this week's show are:

Mona Juett - Deputy Commissioner for the Kentucky department of Travel and Tourism, and formerly the Legislative Director for Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet of Kentucky. http://filmoffice.ky.gov/

Jason Epperson - Owner of Eppic Films in Lexington Kentucky. He's credited with several notable projects such as, "The Sixth Man", a documentary focusing on UK basketball fandom. He was also the runner-up contestant on Steven Spielberg's FOX reality show "On the Lot". http://www.eppicfilms.com/

Soozie Eastman - the first female Exec Director of the Louisville Film Society. Her latest film endeavor is a documentary entitled, "Overload": America's Toxic Love Story, which focuses on women's ability to protect their children and families from exposure to toxins in the environment and everyday products http://www.soozieeastman.com/
