Depression in the Commonwealth on Eastern Standard

The tragic death of beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams has shone a spotlight on the issue of depression. We did some research and discovered that Kentucky ranks well within the top ten states experiencing this form of mental illness.

Guests:

Dr. David Hanna: A licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience providing mental health services.  As Chief Clinical Officer for Bluegrass Comprehensive Community Services, he provides mental health treatment throughout central Kentucky.  Dr. Hanna received his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Carolyn Morris:  Outreach/Education coordinator for NAMI Kentucky, the National Alliance of Mental Illness.  NAMI is a non-profit, self-help organization, with the goal of improving the lives of the mentally ill, decreasing the stigma associated with diagnosis, and providing support, education and advocacy to those with mental illness, as well as their families.
