The Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents took actions Thursday involving the school’s president and end of year employee bonuses. The board also heard about the return of two athletic programs.
Eastern Kentucky University President David McFaddin got an endorsement when the Board of Regents approved a one-year extension of his contract. McFaddin took over the reins of the Richmond school as its 14th president in August of 2020.
Regents also approved end of year one thousand dollar pay supplements for EKU employees along with another $500 for vaccinated workers.
Athletics Director Matt Roan announced that, after a three-year hiatus, men’s and women’s tennis is returning to campus. EKU will resume competing in the fall of next year. Eastern previously sponsored men’s tennis from 1951 to 2018 and the women’s program from the early 1970’s to 2018. The programs were cut three years ago in a cost saving move.
