New Turf And Lighting Coming To EKU Athletic Facilities

EKU Athletics

Eastern Kentucky University is investing in a number of improvements to its athletic facilities.  The focus is on three playing surfaces and two lighting projects.

Work is scheduled this summer and fall to install new artificial turf for football at Roy Kidd Stadium and the Earl Combs Baseball Stadium.  At the baseball facility, a new artificial surface with a drainage system will replace the natural grass in the outfield.  EKU’S intramural field artificial surface will also be replaced.

Roy Kidd Stadium and Tom Samuels Track are getting new LED lighting this summer.  The Colonel football team’s first contest on the new artificial turf will be September 18th against Indiana State.  The baseball team’s first game on a new surface is scheduled February 22nd when Kentucky State visits Richmond.
