Floyd County authorities continue to investigate the fatal shootings of some 13 horses in eastern Kentucky. Detective Kevin Shepherd said the horses were found spread out over a four mile radius. He noted the owner of a half dozen of the horses said care was also being offered to the other six or so.
Shepherd called the crime a rare activity. “There’s been other things happen on strip jobs around there with livestock and horses, but not to this extent. I’ve been fifteen years working in Floyd County and I’ve never seen anything like this before,” noted Shepherd.
Shepherd said there have been tips coming in to the sheriff’s office, but there are currently no suspects. The detective said the humane society has offered up a substantial amount of money for information about the case.
