Holiday shopping kicks into another gear this week, although many gifts ordered online are already on the way.
Lexington Police Sergeant Donnell Gordon said scheduling a pickup may provide a sense of security against "porch pirates", thieves who take packages delivered and left outside.
“Try to pick it up at the actual pickup locations that some of these companies offer," he said. That includes Amazon and UPS and allows people to pick up when it's convenient.
Gordon added another option is scheduling a delivery at the office or a friend's house.
