A veteran prosecutor in the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office will take over for retiring Ray Larson. Governor Bevin appointed Lou Anna Red Corn to the chief prosecutor position Thursday.
Lou Anna Red Corn has served as Assistant Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney for three decades in Lexington. She says she’s been fortunate to work with Ray Larson, whom Red Corn calls ‘one of the nation’s top prosecutors,’ “And I feel equally fortunate and honored to have Governor Bevin appoint me to this office. I feel the appointment was based on merit and qualifications for the job and I’ve worked very hard to be where I am today,” said Red Corn.
Red Corn, who has tried more than 225 felony cases including 51 homicides, says the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office will continue to emphasize consequences for violations of the law, fair but firm prosecutions, and emphasize victims’ rights.
Red Corn will officially begin her new job the first week of October.?
