Investigation Continues into Threating Message Found at EKU

EKU Police Dept.

Officials with Eastern Kentucky University are continuing their investigation of a threatening message found on campus over the weekend.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for the identification, arrest and conviction of those responsible for the message.

Campus police were notified late Sunday night of graffiti found inside a men’s bathroom stall in the Powell Building. The message wasn’t entirely legible but part of it reads “Kill all by 10/8/15.”

EKU classes are continuing as scheduled. In a campus wide email Tuesday, President Michael Benson said students with concerns about going to class this week should coordinate with faculty on making up work and excusing absences if they choose not to attend.

The Model Laboratory School canceled classes through Thursday. Friday is a professional development day for faculty only and their scheduled fall break begins Monday. Model Students will return to school on October 14.

The EKU Chautauqua Lecture planned for Thursday has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a future date.

Anyone having firsthand information relative to a specific threat or message should contact EKU Police at (859) 622-1111 or via the online tip form.
