EKU President Addresses Campus Safety

scholarships.eku.edu

Eastern Kentucky University officials are continuing to take seriously a threatening message found on the campus last week.

The graffiti scrawled on the back of a restroom stall threatened harm to EKU students on the date February 11, 2015.

Since the discovery of the message, the university has communicated a policy of “no tolerance” for such so-called “terroristic threats.” EKU officials have also increased police presence and encouraged students, faculty and staff to be vigilant and report any unusual behavior.

Early Tuesday, University President Michael Benson told WEKU’s John Hingsbergen the school’s goal is to provide a safe learning environment for faculty, staff and students.

EKU officials are continuing to urge the university community to sign up for the RAVE mobile messaging system online at www.GETRAVE.com.

They advise anyone observing suspicious behavior to call EKU Police at 859-622-1111.
