The coronavirus has found its way to the governor’s mansion. Governor Andy Beshear’s son has tested positive for COVID-19. Kentucky reported nearly four thousand cases on Monday. The governor himself has tested negative. He said he will be following every precaution.
“I’m going to test each morning, providing it is negative, I’m going to put on very good fitting mask and go about work as normal, per the current CDC guidelines.”
Governor Beshear said the other members of his family have also tested negative. The governor said his son is mostly asymptomatic and is encouraging everyone to get the vaccine and booster shots.
The Omicron variant of the coronavirus continues to run rampant across Kentucky. The state’s top health official, Dr. Steven Stack, said one major problem Kentucky is facing is hospital staffing shortages.
“We’re running out of healthcare workers. So, there is a lot of beds in hospitals and a lot of ventilators and a lot of other equipment but not a lot of people to operate this stuff. As a more than twenty-year practicing emergency physician, let me assure you, you need the people, the machines don’t do any good without the people.”
Nearly four-thousand cases were reported on Monday.
