The University of Kentucky will conduct a COVID-19 booster shot study. Participation in the trial is limited to those who were part of the University of Kentucky’s Ensemble Johnson & Johnson vaccine trial. It’s also open to people vaccinated by the end of February with the second Pfizer shot.
The study does not include a placebo. Participants will receive a dose of the Johnson & Johnson booster shot.
Eddie Hoover, is the clinical research manager at UK’s center for clinical and translational research.
“We don't know if boosters are going to be recommended,” Hoover said. “We are strongly recommending everybody to get vaccinated, because that's what's going to stop the spread. That'll keep people out of the hospital, that'll bring us back to our normalcy.”
The study isn’t open to those who’ve had a COVID-19 infection or people inoculated with the Moderna vaccine. Eligibility requirements can be found at stopcovidky.com.
