Coronavirus Cases In Kentucky Fall For 10th Consecutive Week

Even with Kentucky’s coronavirus cases at their lowest point in more than two months, Governor Beshear is urging any travelers to do so with care.

Although fewer in number than in many years past, some families are taking spring break trips. “Be really careful if you’re going on spring break and, if you’re not going to be careful, don’t send your kid back right away.  Take the virtual option for a period of time.  We are too close to the end to mess this thing up.  So, everybody please be careful,” said Beshear.

The governor announced 294 coronavirus cases and eleven deaths.  He said none of those deaths occurred in March.  Beshear also reported 50 deaths resulting from an ongoing audit of previous cases.

Governor Beshear said a decline in coronavirus testing has occurred across Kentucky.  He said Monday it’s not surprising given the number of cases currently and vaccinations occurring.  Beshear noted testing could rise if more variant COVID cases are seen.  “The other way we could see more testing occur is if there are requirements for certain things to get tested, which we haven’t seen.  Whether that’s air travel or others and a whole lot of that is still waiting on the CDC,” explained Beshear.

Beshear said some 1.1 million Kentuckians have been vaccinated.  He added 30% of that number falls in the age category of 70 and up.  The Commonwealth’s positivity rate stands at 2.9%.
