Coronavirus Vaccinations Begin Tuesday At Kentucky Horse Park

On average, Governor Beshear says Kentucky has seen coronavirus cases declining for three straight weeks.  The governor says the COVID-19 positivity rate stayed below 9% for the fourth day in a row.

But, during his briefing Monday, Beshear said there are no guarantees the decline will continue without interruption.

“And folks, this isn’t over.  We may face another increase before we get through this and we got to make sure that, given we have known how to stop it three straight times, we don’t do something silly and remove our ability to do what works,” said Beshear.

And the governor maintains what works is keeping vigilant with mask use and social distancing while more and more Kentuckians are vaccinated.

The Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena is likely to be an active location Tuesday, but not for an equine-related event.  It is the first day for coronavirus vaccinations at the regional site in Lexington.   Vaccination Distribution Project Director Jim Gray spelled out the details the COVID-19 briefing.  He said, in time vaccination sites will be situated all over the state.  “What we’re talking about in terms of drive time, is that the goal is that no-one will have to drive more than one county away to get a vaccine.  Now we’re not there yet, but that is the goal,” noted Gray.

Signups are being taken for Alltech Arena vaccinations and new appointments are posted each morning at 6:00 a.m.

Beshear reported 1623 new COVID-19 cases and 35 additional deaths Monday.
