Kentucky Smashes Single Day Record For Coronavirus Cases - By A Large Margin

Stu Johnson

Kentucky has seen its largest one day total for new coronavirus cases since the pandemic came to the Commonwealth in early March.  Wednesday’s COVID count was more than a thousand cases higher than the previous record in early December.

Governor Beshear reported 5,742 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.  The previous high for a one day period came on December tenth when 4,324 cases were announced.  The positivity rate stands at 11.7%, which is the highest mark since May fifth.  34 additional deaths were reported.

The governor’s office said the most positive cases were found in Jefferson, Fayette, Warren, Kenton, and Daviess counties.  Each reported 200 or more new cases.

Just Tuesday, Governor Beshear announced 1,781 new cases of the virus, a relatively low number at this point in the pandemic.?
