Governor Beshear began his coronavirus briefing Monday with a video highlighting the sacrifices of front line caregivers. The governor first thanked those healthcare workers and said if current COVID-19 trends continue, there likely won’t be enough caregivers for all patients.
One of the governor’s new restrictions calls for no indoor dining at restaurants. Beshear said he knows of two restaurants refusing to abide by the executive order. “There’ve been a couple others that all we’ve had to do is talk to and they’ve done the right thing. At least one of the restaurants that’s currently open has lost their food permit for violating these rules and is continuing to operate without a food permit either. Obviously, that’s a problem,” said Beshear.
Beshear said almost all restaurants and bars across Kentucky are, quote, “doing the right thing.” The governor announced another record for Monday cases with 2,135. He said there were five additional deaths.
Beshear called it a “dangerous escalation” of the virus. For the first time in the pandemic, the governor said last week there were 20,000 cases, which was 3000 plus more cases than the previous week.
