Kentucky Transportation Secretary Waives Restrictions For Trucks Transporting In-Demand Gasoline

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Though Kentucky gas supplies are not affected by the hacker shutdown of a major east coast pipeline, Kentucky state government is still trying to lend a hand to make sure motorists everywhere don’t run out of gas.

Kentucky Transportation Secretary Jim Gray has signed an order temporarily suspending certain restrictions on motor carriers working to bring petroleum products to states affected by the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline transmission system.  Gray said, “many states are working in concert to minimize the disruption of fuel supplies.

The order is effective through 12:01 a.m on June 11th and may be extended.  It temporarily relieves commercial truckers from maximum driving times and weigh station stops, if providing response to affected areas.

While Kentucky’s gas supply is unaffected by the pipeline shutdown, some gas stations have seen supplies stressed by panic buying.
