Lexington Begins Accepting Workforce Grant Applications This Week

The city of Lexington has begun accepting applications for workforce development grants.  If approved, the funds would go to businesses and agencies offering  job training, certification, and licensure which help build  the local economy.

Lexington Business and Workforce Engagement Director Elodie  Dickinson said that could include working in heating and air conditioning or jobs requiring a commercial driver’s license.

“If you have a certificate or a licensure, then you are more likely to get a job.  I think the companies are really looking for a technical skill, in addition of course to the essential skills that you want to have as an employer,” noted Dickinson.

Dickinson added that would include solid work ethic and timeliness.  Applicants may request up to $50,000 per grant year.  A grant workshop will be held this Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m at the Lexington Senior Center.
