Lexington Center Hires Messer Construction For Rupp Arena, Convention Center Project

kentucky.com

The Lexington Center Corporation has awarded a $241 million contract to the Messer Construction Company to renovate Rupp Arena and build a new convention center.  A groundbreaking is slated for mid-July.

The contract covers demolition of the Jefferson Street bridge, new University of Kentucky hospitality clubs, upper arena chair back seats and parking structures.

The project will be built in phases so Rupp Arena and much of the existing convention center can remain in operation. It’s expected to be completed in 2021.
