Year-Over-Year Jobless Rates Down in 117 Kentucky Counties

State officials say unemployment rates fell in 117 of Kentucky's 120 counties between January 2014 and January 2015.

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training said Thursday the jobless rate went up in Russell County, and the rates stayed the same in Boyd and Elliott counties.

State officials say Woodford County had the lowest jobless rate in the state at 3.9 percent.

It was followed by Fayette County at 4.3 percent; Scott County at 4.4 percent and Oldham and Shelby counties at 4.5 percent each.

Magoffin County had the state's highest unemployment rate at 15 percent. It was followed by Russell County at 13.1 percent; Elliott and Leslie counties at 12.1 percent each; and Wolfe County at 11.8 percent.
