New State Agency Nurtures Small Businesses

Office of the Governor, Kentucky

The state has created a new agency to help small businesses grow and create jobs.  The Office of Entrepreneurship is intended to enhance similar initiatives already in place.

The goal of the agency includes developing an entrepreneurial climate for new talent in Kentucky and providing guidance and support to start-up operations.Gov. Steve Beshear said Monday that by helping small companies that are so vital to Kentucky's economic health, the agency can improve the state's competitive position in the world.

Staffers also will assist existing small businesses with growth opportunities and encourage job and investment in the state.
