Jerry Douglas, Dobro featured with Alison Krauss & Union Station

Jerry Douglas performs with Alison Krauss and Union Station at the Norton Center Saturday August 25, 2012

Another option for music lovers this weekend is the season-opener for the Norton Center for the Arts at Centre College.  Alison Krauss and Union Station perform Saturday evening in Danville.

Jerry Douglas has been described as the “Muhammad Ali of the Dobro.”  It’s an instrument he began playing at the age of 8.

John Hingsbergen spoke with him about his interest in the instrument that brings a distinct sound to many  classic and currently popular recordings.

The Saturday night concert featuring Alison Krause & Union Station with Jerry Douglas, is sold out.   The Norton Center has been maintaining a waiting list for tickets if they become available.

Information about this show, and others in the series at Centre College, is available at Norton-center (dot) com.
