Another day of rain, then drier and cooler weather for central and eastern Kentucky

Parts of central and eastern Kentucky are in for some cooler and drier weather in the next few days. However, officials warn that’s not before a cold front could drop nearly another inch of rain through Wednesday afternoon.

Brandon Bonds is a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Jackson, he said morning commuters will see widespread showers Wednesday morning, as well as some scattered thunderstorms.

“Could be a little breezy at times as well into that time frame with any thunderstorms that’ll be associated with that. But after that, things kind of taper off from west to east as we work through the day and into the afternoon should be quieting down by the evening time frame,” said Bonds.

Bonds said after this round of rain, temperatures will drop again.

“So, after this cold front, we’ll kind of cool back down. Looking at highs Thursday afternoon in the upper 40s to kind of around 50, a little warmer as you work farther south. Then Friday afternoon should be right around average here. Kind of the lower to mid 40s across the area,” said Bonds.

Bonds added there is the possibility that some showers early Wednesday could be heavy enough to cause some slight local flooding.
