Richmond Army National Guard Unit Heads to Ida Ravaged Area

nationalguard.mil

Kentucky Army National Guard members out of Richmond will be assisting in recovery efforts following Hurricane Ida. The unit is expected to arrive in Louisiana this weekend.

Between 80 to a hundred members from the Guard’s 617th Military Police Company will be assisting the Louisiana National Guard. The Kentucky members will aid in civil support for the area while also assisting in recovery and relief.

Ida forced citizens in southern Louisiana to abandon thousands of homes and businesses while seeking safer grounds when the storm came ashore. Kentucky Adjutant General Haldane Lamberton said, quote, “This isn’t the first time they have been hit, nor is this the first time we responded to their call,”

The MP Company from Richmond is anticipated to arrive in Louisiana by Saturday.
