NPR's business news starts with the golden Apple.

INSKEEP: Apple briefly unseated ExxonMobil yesterday as the nation's most valuable company - by market capitalization. Market capitalization is the total dollar value of a company's outstanding shares. So when the stock market goes up, the value of the company goes up. And the milestone occurred for Apple when its stock surged to trade at $374 per share yesterday. That brought Apple's market capitalization to $338 billion, surpassing ExxonMobil, which at that moment was worth a mere $337 billion.
Now, Exxon actually ended the day back on top, but investors are betting that Apple could soon stay on top permanently. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
