MARY LOUISE KELLY, Host:

NPR's business news starts with a resignation at News Corp.

(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)

LOUISE KELLY: Rebekah Brooks, who's been at the center of the phone-hacking scandal in Britain, resigned this morning. Brooks was head of News Corp.'s British newspapers, and one of Rupert Murdoch's top lieutenants. She's the highest level casualty so far in the scandal. And we'll have more on this story elsewhere in the program. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
