Our last word in business today is luxury in Luanda.
Luanda is the capital of Angola and it is the most expensive city for expats, according to the consulting company Mercer. Now Angola is a very poor country, so high expat housing prices are the result of a limited supply of housing acceptable to, say, a Westerner working in the country's oil industry. A luxury two-bedroom in Luanda costs about $7,000 a month.
For comparison, that same kind of two-bedroom might cost you $4,800 a month in Tokyo, which is the world's second-most expensive city for expats.
That's the business news on MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Mary Louise Kelly.
