Celebrations Break Out After Bin Laden's Death

STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

News of Osama bin Laden's death prompted celebrations across America. At a baseball game between the Mets and Phillies, chants of USA broke out at the top of the ninth as fans read the news on their smartphones. A crowd gathered outside the White House when President Obama addressed the nation last night. And thousands of people came to Ground Zero in New York City. They waved American flags and even sang the national anthem in the hours after they heard the news.
