Duncan Sheik's smash single "Barely Breathing" forced the singer-songwriter into the national spotlight in 1996. Since then, he's released five more full-lengths, a handful of EPs and two anthologies. While continuing to produce albums, Sheik also dabbled in the world of Broadway plays. Teaming up with Stephen Sater, he composed music for the Grammy and Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening, for which he won awards for Best Orchestration and Best Original Score.
Considering Sheik's success as a composer, his pop-loving fans had to be pleased to hear about his upcoming album, Covers 80s, which explores takes on classic tunes from Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure and more.
Hear Sheik perform songs from Covers 80s, as well as some of his older material, live from the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, part of WXPN's Live Fridays concert series.
