Two years ago Alex Anwandter decided to put an end to his band Teleradio Donoso, one of the most celebrated Chilean bands in recent memory. He claimed he wanted to explore the brighter side of pop music, and embarked on a new musical journey under the moniker Odisea. Anwandter is a stage maniac, a showman with a great, seductive voice and infectious dance moves. Although many of us expected him to step toward Justin Timberlake territory, his new project's self-titled debut album carries an arsenal of confrontational sounds for the end of the world.
As pessimistic as many of his songs might sound, Odisea's disco tunes are remarkable anthems outlining pop music's rebellion. His new single "Casa Latina" is a third-world dystopian tale about the new century, which the song says will end along with our youth's dreams and the prophecies. With thought-provoking and poetic lyrics — "The smile without the heart" or "Is there anybody else awake?" — the odyssey Alex Anwandter has created is almost believable.
In this brand new self-directed clip for the song, the Chilean pop sensation brings some light into Santiago's nightlife. He contrasts these images to the lives of several women, which might be the individuals he calls "the victims of the century" in the song. He also brings his jaw-dropping choreography and always eye-popping wardrobe. In the video, Anwandter moves his shoulders like satellite dishes; his haircut is a monument; his feet grind like metallic gears. Odisea's visionary moods are refreshing and stimulating, which has made Anwadter one of the new defining voices of Latin-American Pop.

Odisea: Bailando Hacia El Fin Del Mundo
Hace dos años Alex Andwandter decidió ponerle fin a su banda Teleradio Donoso, una de las agrupaciones chilenas mas celebradas de los últimos tiempos. Según el, quería explorar el lado bueno de la música pop, y así comenzó en una aventura musical llamada Odisea. Anwandter es un genio en el escenario—un verdadero entretenedor con una voz inmensa y seductora, y una forma de bailar que es contagiosa. Muchos de nosotros nos temíamos que su ambición solista lo convertiría en una especie de Justin Timberlake, pero por suerte su nuevo proyecto musical tiene un arsenal de sonidos apocalípticos y provocativos.
Muchas de las canciones suenan pesimistas, sin embargo, las canciones de Odisea son increíbles himnos que denotan el espíritu de una rebelión pop. El nuevo corte "Casa Latina" es un cuento sobre el nuevo siglo en el tercer mundo. Según la canción, el siglo que terminará con los sueños de la juventud y sus profecías. Las letras de la canción son provocativas y a la vez poéticas—la odisea de Alex Anwandter es casi creíble.
En el nuevo video que el mismo dirigió, la sensación del pop chileno retrata la vida nocturna de Santiago.
