The new head of the World Health Organization will be elected Tuesday. The leading candidate is Peter Piot, who's headed UNAIDS for many years. Whoever is chosen will direct a vastly more important force in world health than it has been in years past, as epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases continue to grow.
