Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced that Kentuckians who’ve received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine may sign up to win $1 million dollars. Three $1 million-dollar prizes will be awarded to anyone over 18, who enters and lives in Kentucky. Beshear says he thinks it will boost vaccination rates.

“It's also a good incentive to call your doctor. It's a good incentive to get online to something that's not crazy. And read what some of the experts are saying,” Beshear said. “Yes, I anticipate we will see a significant increase. ”

Children ages 12-to-17 who get the shot, may enter for a chance to win a full ride scholarship to any public Kentucky college or university.

“If you've already gotten your shot, good for you, you're eligible, all you have to do is sign up. If you haven't gotten your shot, go get it,” Beshear said. “Protect your family and get qualified for this amazing opportunity. If you're on the fence. How about a free ride to college?”

Approximately 46% of Kentucky’s total population has received at least one shot.

Gov. Beshear also announced more eviction relief funding. Beshear said both Louisville and Lexington’s eviction relief funds needed more than what was initially estimated. Lexington will receive an additional 11.7 million dollars. Louisville will receive $27 million.
