A Campfire Restriction Imposed In The Daniel Boon National Forest

Officials with the Daniel Boone National Forest have implemented a fire restriction.  No campfires are permitted that are outside of developed campgrounds where metal ring protection is available.

Forest Public Affairs Officer Tim Eling noted this prohibition comes in light of extreme drought conditions in some parts of the state. “The difficult thing this time of year is, as I mentioned our fire season typically starts October one, and we’re running into the fire season already very dry,” said Eling.

Eling said forestry officials have already seen a number wildfires in the Daniel Boone forest.  He says leaves falling in the coming weeks will only offer more fuel on the forest floor.  Eling added there’s no way to predict how long the fire restriction order will be in place.?
