The CDC Kentucky map this past week showed eleven counties in the green category when it comes to COVID incidence. One of those counties registering green was Fleming. The northeast county sits in a region where all counties east of it are in red, the highest level.
Fleming County Public Health Director Stephanie Fryman said her county has seen a moderate level of coronavirus incidence.
Summer months are often cited as a period when COVID spread may slow due to more outdoor activities. But, the fall can mean an increase. Fryman said it’s a wait-and-see time.
“I hope not but do we expect it, yes, but we’re just on a, kind of a precautionary road here. We’re just taking it day by day and see where we at and week by week.”
Fryman noted vaccinations are offered twice a week with a steady flow of visitors.
“We’re seeing an uptick of people wanting their boosters, not so much as the first timers or the newbies. But, we’re seeing people that are getting their boosters. It’s kind of slowed down as far as their initial vaccines go,” said Fryman.
Fryman said monitoring continues and her health department advises community partners. She added those communications include industries in an effect to try to reduce the spread of COVID.
