Many Kentucky communities are recovering from weekend rains and flooding.  Kentucky Emergency Management Director Mike Dossett said 37 counties have filed emergency declarations.

He said Wolfe Creek Dam at Cumberland Lake is at capacity with increasing amounts released by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Dossett says engineers are on site monitoring the dam. “The health of the dam and the dam quality remains constant, so there is no issue there.  The accelerated releases have not cause problems downstream ,” said Dossett.

Dossett said that’s not to say there haven’t been flooded homes scattered across the state.  The Emergency Management director said there’s been significant road damage including 25 to 30 mudslides since the rain cycle began in early February.   “There are some homes impacted, however it is not widespread," he said.
