Keeneland, Lexington’s historic horse racing track, will celebrate its 85th anniversary during this year’s Fall Meet in October. It’s expected to be a record-setter financially, too.
Keeneland will offer a race meet record of $6 million in stakes purses during racing from October eighth through the 30th. Keeneland first opened on October 15, 1936 for a nine-day fall meet.
Track Vice President of Racing Gatewood Bell said the highest ever purse money and two new stakes races for two-year-olds will broaden appeal to horsemen and fans for the upcoming 17 days of racing.
Keeneland plans to release information about the 2021 Fall Meet ticketing, along with a timeline for purchases, in early July.
