With more than two months until Kentucky voters cast their ballots, it appears the sixth district congressional race will likely attract consistent attention between now and then.

Both candidates are working to make their case every chance they get.

GOP incumbent Andy Barr and first time candidate, Democratic challenger Amy McGrath are working to distinguish themselves from each other on all kinds of issues.  Unlike traditional hot button items like the economy and health care, a new federal topic this year is the proposal to establish a U.S. Space Force.  Barr is fully behind the idea. “We do need to develop our space force if you will, to defend the country from the risk of an attack,” said Barr.

Barr believes a major threat could be a cyber attack with the likely victim the U.S. economy.

McGrath, a retired marine fighter pilot, doesn’t discount the idea, but says a cyber force should be the priority. “We’re actually being attacked right now in cyber space and so, for that, I think we ought to be focusing on the threats that are really real and happening right now,” noted McGrath.

The White House has announced President Trump will visit the central Kentucky district sometime before Election Day.  McGrath says work is underway to see about former Vice President Joe Biden coming to the district in the weeks ahead.
