The bills are coming due in Fayette County. Property tax bills have gone out from the Fayette County Sheriff’s office.

The Fayette Sheriff’s office mailed well over 119 thousand tax bills with a face value of almost $427 million. That amounts to a 5% increase in total value from last year.

Property tax payments received by November first will receive a two percent discount. On the other end of the scale, those received after December 31st will include penalties.

The sheriff’s office collected and distributed 99.5% of property taxes during the 2021-22 tax collection period. Distributions were made to nine taxing jurisdictions including the state, Lexington government, Fayette School System, the health department, and LexTran.
