A lawyer representing union workers at the Fayette County Detention Center is calling for a more transparent discussion of collective bargaining negotiations. Former Lexington City Council Member Scott Crosby made his plea during public comments as part of the virtual work session. Crosby asked that the terms and conditions of the contract for jail employees be discussed in the public forum.
“We have a public facility, a public contract. We have public employees that are involved. We have public inmates. We provide public services out there,” said Crosby.
Crosby referenced a closed session held by the city council soon after the meeting began yesterday. The Council along with Mayor Linda Gorton and her administrators met for about two and a half hours. There were no motions following the executive session.
