People marched in downtown Lexington Tuesday night following the decision not to charge police officers with the death of Breonna Taylor.
More than six months after Breonna Taylor was killed by police, a grand jury indicted former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison for three counts of wanton endangerment. Three police officers were involved in the shooting but none were charged with Taylor’s death.
Approximately 200 people gathered for a peaceful protest in downtown Lexington and spoke out against the decision. One protestor, Corey Logan traveled to Louisville earlier in the day.
“I feel that it’s very wrong of how we as civilians are getting treated…blacks, whites, but mainly young black men and women getting gunned down in the streets and these cops are getting away with murder,” Logan said.
Protest organizers called for a number of reforms to the Lexington Police Department including more funding for social services.
